Fiber laser engraving is one of the most reliable and efficient methods for metal engraving. They are widely used for deep laser engraving on bronze, brass and other metals.
That’s why many laser engraving hobbyists and small business owners interested in deep laser engraving bronze for industrial parts and logos.
In this guide, we’ll walk through a real example of deep laser engraving on bronze using the ComMarker B6 Mopa 60W fiber laser engraver to make a bronze seal. Including practical settings and workflow tips that matter in actual production.
Why Fiber Laser Engraving Works Best for Metal
When it comes to laser engraving on metal, fiber lasers stand out for several reasons.
First, they deliver high energy density, which allows for deep marking on bronze with clean edges and strong contrast.
Second, they are extremely stable, making them ideal for long engraving jobs that require consistent results.
For materials like brass or bronze, a fiber laser engraver can achieve sharp edges, strong contrast, and sufficient depth, which are qualities that are essential for deep metal laser engraving.
Practical Guide for Engraving a Bronze Seal
To demonstrate the process, we engraved a lips pattern bronze seal stamp as an example of deep laser engraving on bronze, using the ComMarker B6 Mopa 60W fiber laser.
For heavier-duty or faster engraving, higher-power machines like a 200W fiber laser engraver ComMarker Titan can achieve similar results more quickly with deeper engraving in every pass.

Step 1: Prepare the Design and Image
Create or import your pattern into LightBurn or your engraver’s software and adjust it to the size of your bronze blank.
Step 2: Clean and Position the Metal
Wipe the bronze surface clean and securely clamp it on the engraving bed.
Step 3: Set Focus and Laser Engraving Parameters
Adjust the laser focus to the surface, then set power, speed, frequency, line spacing, and number of passes according to your material and desired depth.
Laser Engraving Parameters for 60W mopa fiber laser engraver
-
Speed: 1000 mm/s
-
Power: 95%
-
Frequency: 30 kHz
-
Pulse Width: 200 ns
-
Mode: Run continuously
With these settings, we recommend an engraving time for approximately 2 hours before stopping the machine. This ensures enough depth for deep laser engraving on bronze stamps to function properly.
Step 4: Start the Engraving Job

Tip for Laser engraving Bronze Seals
1.Remember to invert your image if necessary.
- To print the design and keep the background blank, make the design white and the background black in your grayscale image.
-
To engrave the background and leave the design blank, make the background white and the design black.
2.When engraving text, remember to invert the letters.
3.Maintaining Focus During Deep Metal Engraving.
One critical detail in deep metal engraving is focus control. As the engraving depth increases, the focal point changes. Therefore, during this project, we manually adjusted the focus every 30 minutes.
Specifically, we turned the adjustment knob on top of the column by about half a turn, reducing the focal distance by 0.5–1 mm each time. This ensured the laser stayed at its optimal focus throughout the entire engraving process, resulting in consistent depth and clean details.

4.Post-Processing for a Perfect Seal Stamp
Once the laser engraving was complete, the bronze seal went through simple post-processing steps:
-
Water cooling to bring the metal temperature down safely
-
Light sanding on sandpaper to smooth the surface
-
Ink testing using red sealing ink
After these steps, the engraved lips pattern produced a bold, clean impression—resulting in a perfect customized bronze seal stamp with a striking flame-red finish.
